To achieve that, I needed to chmod +rwx /samba/bin/. Both processes (nmbd and smbd) show up in ps. I'm an old Unix command-line guy anyway, so I really don't care about Finder's failings. 1) using su and no shell (not running ash) I can run samba-rc, and it executes correctly. E.g.: command line operations read and write without issue. ich wrder gerne mit meinem Android Handy auf meine Sambafreigaben zugreifen und. 2) Mac's Finder *reads* fine but is helpless when trying to *write* to a mounted share from the androids, while the mount is functionally fine for anything else. Problem : Implementation of setting up a Samba Server from an Android Phone (Similar to LAN Drive App on Playstore Link) I've searched the internet and couldn't find server side tutorials (client side smb communication tutorials were plenty). I sent an email to the developer's contact address a while ago, but have yet to hear anything back, which is why the 4-star instead of 5-star. Only 2 things though: 1) my tablets (android v6) are fine with it, but my phone (android v7) hangs before I can even set up a share. Load a project onto a Samba file server and try to compile it. The only disconnects I've encountered I've been able t attribute to network issues, not this app.

This one makes the androids mountable like any other share, and the other devices can easily mount them and read/write as desired.

Android's "fix" for OSX not directly mounting an android anymore (which I used to be able to do with Android 4.4.1) is a joke, and every single one of the file browser apps I've tried (and kept a couple) have one problem or another when it comes to sharing files to/from other devices on the local LAN. This is the app which has made data sharing between platforms in my home office possible.
